Next Steps Programme:

INDUSTRY INSIDER

Do you want to help school students find a career path that’s right for them?

We don’t provide the answers to students

We equip them with the tools, mindset and connections so they can find their own

What we’re doing

We’re in over 100 Scottish schools and next year we’re offering a four session programme of support where we:

  • Introduce students to an A.I. tool we’ve developed that helps them explore careers. We tested this with 588 students in March and 79% said they wanted to use it again.

  • Show them how and where to research further to dig deeper into the roles they are interested in

  • Create an ‘ask’ list of people from industry they would like to speak to and the questions they want to ask

For those students who ask for help, we’ll work with our network of volunteers to arrange Teams calls they can join to find out more about specific roles. We’ve done this already with a pilot group of young engineers - and it works.

Session 1 (Sept)

Students learn about wages, progression paths and how to find their talents

Session 2 (Oct)

Students use our AI tools to help them to explore different career options

Session 3 (Nov)

Arrange Teams calls between groups of students and people from industry

Session 4 (Dec)

Students make informed decisions about their next steps

The Ask

The ask is to sign up for 2 x 30min Teams calls with young people, likely to take place in Nov 2025

There are two key people we are looking for:

  • ‘Near Peers’ - an early career employee

  • ‘People Who Hire’ - those who hire young people

We’re open to a wide range of roles and industries. We can’t cover everything, but the more we can cover the better

Outside of this specific ask, if you can help with site visits, work experience or any other opportunities to help young people understand different roles then please get in touch. The more experiences young people can have, the better informed their next steps will be.
