These are the moments that matter.

Conversations that bring you closer

At Powering Futures, we believe every young person deserves the chance to be happy and successful. We know that’s what parents want too.

Your voice matters more than you might realise. The encouragement you give and the questions you ask shape how confident young people feel about what comes next.

That’s where Parent Power comes in - giving you simple, practical ways to start the conversations that really count.

Simple questions, powerful insights

Our games spark curiosity, challenge assumptions and open up real discussions about school, work and life - from “Do exam results define your future?” to “What does success really look like?”

They are not about having the “right” answers, but about discovering perspectives, sharing experiences and sometimes being surprised by what your young person thinks and what you realise about yourself.

By having these conversations, young people gain confidence from knowing their parent is listening. Parents gain a clearer understanding of what their young people think, want and need. That shared understanding strengthens relationships and builds the trust that helps young people feel ready for what comes next.

Why it matters

The world of work is changing quickly. New industries are emerging, and employers are looking for more than just exam results. They want young people who can communicate, solve problems, adapt and work well with others.

These skills don’t always get the same attention in school - but they make all the difference once a young person leaves the classroom.

And that’s where parents come in.

See Parent Power in action

We invited four young people who have taken part in Powering Futures programmes, along with their parents, to join us on set and try our Parent Power games, ‘Agree, Disagree, Discuss’, ‘Show Me’ and ‘The Chat’.

These games use carefully chosen questions and statements designed to spark honest conversations between parents and their young person.

What followed was laughter, reflection, a few tears and powerful moments that showed how much parents and young people influence each other. Now you can watch their stories and download the same resources to try at home.
